Fall Newspaper Club
Young reporters and editors engage in all aspects of newspaper production, from pitching ideas to interviewing, reporting, editing, illustrating and planning for publication.
Through a collaborative partnership with the Rivertowns Dispatch, the local, independent newspaper of the Rivertowns, selected work from the fall Newspaper Club will be published in the Little Dispatch, a kids-only section of the print newspaper.
This class meets weekly from 5:15-6:30 at HudCo (145 Palisade Street, Dobbs Ferry, New York) on the following TUESDAYS in 2026 & 2027:
SEPTEMBER 8, 15, 22, 29 *
OCTOBER 6, 13, 20, 27
NOVEMBER 10, 17
DECEMBER 1, 8, 15
JANUARY 5, 12
SNOW-DAY MAKE-UP (IF NEEDED): JANUARY 19
*A REPORTING FIELD TRIP will take place during our class time on September 29th. Students will meet at the Wickers Creek Archaeological Site in Dobbs Ferry, where an expert from the Friends of Wickers Creek Archaeological Site (FOWCAS) will share the history of the earliest remaining evidence of humans living in the Hudson Valley, dating back to 6950 B.C., and answer students' questions.Transportation will not be provided. Field trip details are subject to change due to weather or scheduling considerations. This is a special opportunity to practice hands-on reporting while visiting a significant Native American site, right in our backyard.
Open to children in Grades 2-6.
Tuition assistance and scholarships are available.
We offer a $50 sibling discount.
The maximum capacity for this class is 12 students.
