Sunday mornings are for comics

Story Salon just wrapped our comics residency at the Maker Hive in Hastings! Over two Sunday mornings in September, young artists and writers dove into the art of making comics.

Children created original characters by playing cartoonist Lynda Barry's "Character Jam" exercise (48 characters in 10 minutes!), learned about story structure, workshopped their ideas with peers, and transformed pencil sketches into fully inked and colored 6-frame comics.

Every comic created in the workshop was bound into a special chapbook that students took home as a keepsake of their work.

Want in on the fun? Watch this space for more information on how to enroll for our winter comics workshops.
